Toscano Bridal Real Bride: Bethany & Nigel

Bethany and Nigel were married in Melbourne earlier this year. Rich ivory corded lace and warm reds and royal blue were a perfect compliment for this winter wedding. Bethany shares a little of her Nigel's day with us on the Blog.

Bride: Bethany

Groom: Nigel

Wedding Date: 11 July 2015

When and how we meet?

We met at gym actually. Nigel was my personal trainer for about 2 years before I worked up the courage to ask him out.

Style concept for your wedding:
Bold winter colours mixed with classic lace and modest décor.

Inspiration for your wedding:
We wanted everyone to walk away thinking ‘That was a great wedding!’, so we tried to make it equal parts formal/traditional and party. We also wanted to have a few little surprises for our guests throughout the night, which included serving vintage port and scotch towards the end of the night and the men (and women if they desired) were given cigars which they enjoyed on the terrace with their liquor.

The best advice I was given:
To make sure Nigel and I take a moment for just the two of us in-between the ceremony and reception. I really appreciated this advice and it definitely helped to centre us and prepare us for the craziness of the reception.

Your Hen’s night:
We hired a beautiful house, Rancho del Cielo, located in Carbrook, for the venue. My mum and bridesmaids hosted a high-tea in the afternoon followed by cocktails and canapés. Rancho del Cielo provided all the catering, as well as the wait staff and a barman for the cocktails.

Ceremony and reception details
The ceremony and reception were both held at the Langham Hotel in Southbank, VIC. The ceremony room had floor to ceiling windows on one side, looking out at the Yarra River, with lovely chandeliers down the centre of the room which worked as a guide for the aisle.

The reception was held on the top floor of the Langham and boasted a huge outdoor terrace overlooking the city. It was winter, however, so guests didn’t linger outside too long, which was great because it kept the party atmosphere inside.
